A number of companies can cut kits for some of my boats in Australia, North America and the UK.
Some specialise in different kits.
USA and North America
David Graybeal, Portland, Oregon – Harbor Wood and Boat Works
David is a professional woodworker and was also the first builder of the Goat Island Skiff in North America. We go way back. Harbor Wood and Boat Works can supply kits to the entire USA for most of my range.
David also does boat repairs, fitouts, sparmaking and complete builds and non boat production work.
Clinton Chase in Portland, Maine – Clint’s boatbuilding and kit website
Supplies Goat Island Skiff currently, can supply Eureka Canoe and MSD Rowboat with a short lead up time. He also does birdsmouth spars (from supplying precut staves through to glued blanks and fully finished spars)
Clint developed a precut kit for the Goat Island Skiff and delivered to Texas. The first kit for John Goodman’s Green GIS that got a really good working over this summer with a good finish in the Texas 200 mile event and then some solo rowing down some rather fast rivers.
John Owen in Texas – John’s boatbuilding and boat kit website
Currently supplies kits for the Quick Canoe and Quick Canoe Electric to the USA and Canada. The kits are not just precut plywood but contain all the timber to build this simple canoe.
John and I have been working together over the last months to produce kits for the Quick Canoe and the OZ Mk3 PDRacer. The PDRacer kit is still a couple of months away but it will also qualifies as an OzRacer. John has been a producer of after market rudders and centreboards for a wide variety of production boats and brings a high quality approach but works in a very efficient way to keep the prices down.
Australia
Duckflat – Supply all Australia – they can cut many different kits, not just the ones on this page
Duckflat can supply materials packs for any boat, but also precut plywood kits for the Goat Island Skiff, the PDRacer, The Eureka Canoe, the Handy Punt and the Quick Canoe. They also can supply foil and mast blanks ready to be final shaped and epoxied.
They also run a very successful boatbuilding school twice a year at their premises at Mt Barker. Sometimes I assist as one of the tutors. Usually the boats built are a mix of Storer and Oughtred designs with occasional ones from Phil Bolger, Joel White, Bear Mountain and others.
United Kingdom
Fyne Boat Kits – Inquiries or see their developing Storerboats page
Fyne are my main plans agent in Europe and the UK and also have put in a big effort in making all my plans and kits available. They have spent time developing the first BETH Sailing canoe kits (recommended for experienced dinghy sailors only). They also stock the Storer Boat Plans in book form.
Alec Jordan/Jordan Boats – Website
Alec will cut almost anything you need. But in the past he has cut some Goat Island Skiffs.
South Africa
CKD Boats – One of the most experienced kit cutting groups – website
Roy has cut out several Goats and a couple of Eureka Canoes. South Africa has a similar high performance plywood boat culture to Australia and New Zealand.
