Csaba is my Agent in Hungary. Several boat plans are available in Magyar – the translation is a huge job because my plans are quire wordy.
There is an English page on his Hungarian Wooden Boat Website too.
This last weekend the group on the forum held their first wooden boat messabout.
This is Csaba’s report.
Dear Michael,
Yesterday we had a wonderful day at Lake Velence with approximately 30 Hungarian boat builders and 10 boats. As a first try of such meeting it was a definite success. Everybody was very interested to participate and show their boats.
We had 4 OZRs, 2 Eurekas, 1 GIS, 2 (home built) Optimists, and a Shetland fishing boat at the lake. Many future boat builders came to have a look at the boats – many got further enthused.
The weather was not ideal (bit chilly with showers) but the shore, water and the horizon with the clouds had such a contrast that it was almost surrealistic (see photos). We had light breeze ideal for most of us being beginner sailor.
I organised a nice lunch (goulash) made on open fire, boat beauty contest and an OZ Racer competition. Most of the builders brought their families; the atmosphere of the whole event was very friendly and relaxed.
A strong need of such events was expressed. Thank you for giving me the tool to create such a great community. I have very positive expectation about the future.
Feel free to share my short report and photos wherever you wish.
If you have any questions I am always at your service.
